Dan Lam (b. 1988)
Dan Lam, known on social media as sopopomo, is a contemporary Vietnamese-American artist known for her vibrant, textured sculptures that defy artistic convention. Working primarily with resins, polyurethane foams and intensely coloured pigments, Lam creates pieces that appear to be alive, almost dripping or melting into the space they occupy. His works, characterised by a mixture of the grotesque and the beautiful, explore the fine line between attraction and repulsion, making viewers question their own emotional and physical responses to matter.
Inspired by natural phenomena and sensory textures, Lam has gained notoriety through digital platforms, where she shares both her artistic process and the end result of her visual experiments. Her use of fluorescent colours and organic forms has allowed her to stand out in the contemporary art world, bringing her sculptures to international galleries and capturing the attention of collectors and critics alike.
