Description
The "Lefkos" technique by PichiAvo incorporates UV inks into the artists' paintings, creating layers that reveal hidden details under ultraviolet light. This approach allows viewers to experience the artwork differently under regular and UV lighting. The name "Lefkos," meaning "white" in Greek, reflects a whitewash over graffiti that makes mythological characters stand out.
PichiAvo (Pichi b. 1977 | Avo b. 1985)
PichiAvo is a Spanish artist duo, known internationally for their unique fusion of classical art and contemporary graffiti. Their work is characterised by an astonishing combination of elements from Greek and Roman mythology with vibrant street art techniques, creating a visual dialogue between the past and the present. Pichi and Avo, who began collaborating on the streets of Valencia, have developed a distinctive style where classical statues are integrated with explosions of colour and urban textures, striking a balance between sculptural tradition and street culture.
PichiAvo's work has transformed walls all over the world, from urban art festivals to gallery exhibitions and public spaces. The strength of his works lies in their ability to evoke historical heritage in a way that feels fresh and provocative, inviting viewers to reconsider the relevance of classical art in the context of modernity.
